Film-induced Tourism, 2nd ed
The first commercial movie was produced by the Lumière brothers in 1895 in the Paris Grand Cafè. Subsequently, the Lumières commissioned several crews of cameramen around the world to shoot new material to amaze viewers. The first studio was opened in Los Angeles in 1911 and the movie industry became to flourish with all the glamour it embodies today. The phenomenon of film-induced tourism is not new, but as Sue Beeton’s volume suggests, it has more future than past. This second edition is an attempt to provide a more solid theoretical framework for film-induced tourism evidenc- ing that knowledge development in this research field has entered a mature phase. The geographical focus is wider than that of the first edition but still focuses on Australasia with some glimpses of Europe and Japan. Although much of the content, case studies, and examples are drawn from the first edition, this edition is a significantly enriched, fresh, and original contribution.
